Reimagined in New Orleans

Over 40 years the homeowners raised four of their eight children in this 7,000-square-foot home, but with their kids grown and raising families of their own, they were in a position to reimagine practically every surface of their legacy property.

The home had two seemingly incongruous requirements: (1) It needed to provide the client's large blended family with a gathering place when in town while (2) allowing the pair to engage with it on a daily basis in a way that it did not feel too big and that met the demands of aging in place. Every detail — from the floor plan, flooring, plumbing, lighting, and HVAC to the paint colors, furnishings, and fabrics — was intentionally selected through this lens.

The result is a home that honors the old while elevating it in style and function so that it can be the enduring thread that connects this large and multigenerational family.
